The stretch of Interstate 40 that winds through the Pigeon River Gorge near Great Smoky Mountains National Park cuts through an ancient trail used by generations of wildlife to access food, shelter and mates. It is also a notoriously dangerous stretch of road. Vehicles frequently collide with bears, deer, elk and smaller animals, risking the lives of both people and wildlife.  Learn more.
